| T-Shirt Of The Week #004: SPACE BASTARD |
[16 Nov 2009|09:32am] |
|
TOTW is basically a joke that Ariana and I pull each week in our joint guise as the International Electrophonic Unit. Basically, we take some of the stupider things I’ve said on Twitter and elsewhere, often in a state of extreme alcoholic refreshment or severe sleep deprivation, and put them on a t-shirt. Ariana set up a Cafe Press store (because this is a joke and engaging with a serious maker of t-shirts would be less funny to us), and… well, once a week, here we are.
Through this website and this Cafe Press store, we’re going to release one t-shirt a week. It’ll go live on Monday… and it’ll die Sunday night — midnight UK time, more often than not. Each one lives for a week, and then it’s replaced by the next week’s shirt. Until I either run out of dumb ideas or Ariana’s brain explodes.
So, every Monday, I’ll post the new shirt here, and you can peer at it more at http://www.cafepress.com/electrophonic.
Anyway. I present to you — this week by popular request on Twitter — T-Shirt Of The Week #004: SPACE BASTARD:
We also offer a couple of perennial items. Mostly because I wanted one of these for myself:
(And also a MAN COOK MEAT WITH FIRE "splatter-shield", because Ariana’s crazy)
Thank you for your kind attention.

| Monday Morning Quarterback |
[16 Nov 2009|10:13am] |
...or what was supposed to Saturday Night Football Check-In.
Good morning blackfolk, I'm later than R. Kelly to a 21-and-over club, but I figured I'd post the check-in on Monday morning since most of us aren't ready to do some work yet.
I'll start first as always: DSU blew a 16-point lead to Norfolk State and lost 21-16, the Hornets are now 3-7 overall, 3-5 in MEAC play. High school wise, the Howard Wildcats dominated Appoquinimink High 40-7, finishing the regular season 9-1 and making the Delaware State Division II playoffs for the second straight year, fourth time in the last seven overall. And tonight...well, FUCK the Ravens in advance.
How did your teams do this weekend?

I’ve had the throwing-up-and-falling-over virus since Friday morning. Broadcasting may be bitty, because I’m still doing the falling-over part from time to time.
This is Warren Ellis dot com. Good morning.
And this is the brilliant Ellen Rogers:

fapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapOH GOOD MORNING COMRADES I DIDN’T SEE YOU THERE.
What’s that? Oh, um. I was just, uh, playing with my tribble.
Ariana showed me the following picture last night…

…which spurred me to revisit that notorious “Closer” slashup, the gravitational pull of which sent me spiraling down a long, twisted YouTube wormhole of Trekkie aberration and depravity. Woooo!
To help you get your sluggish blood pumping, I’d like to share a bit of what I found with you. Just the tip…

…of the proverbial iceberg, I mean.

| Clay and Paper Skull |
[16 Nov 2009|11:03am] |
|
http://skulladay.blogspot.com/2009/11/clay-and-paper-skull.html Stéphane Chassignole from Marseille - France sent us this skull that he described as being made with clay, covered with paper, and a bit of paint.
 Muppet Wrangler C says:
It just might be all the influence of the recent Sesame Street celebration but this reminds me of what a Muppet skull might look like. Thank you submitting such an exdrordaniary piece. Also if you get a chance to check out Stéphane’s link at the top, there is another interesting skull in the “atelier” section.

| Úna Burke’s Medical Armor |
[16 Nov 2009|09:35am] |

Our next and final feature on Late-to-the-Party Sunday is this collection of prosthetics-inspired, insectlike body armor created by recent University of the Arts London graduate Úna Burke, blogged everywhere and recently rediscovered by Haute Macabre. On her site, Burke explains the rationale behind these creations: “This is a conceptual collection of wearable art pieces, depicting a series of eight human gestures associated with the cause, the physical and psychological effect and the healing stages of human trauma…in my research I have referred to the work of artists, photographers and designers such as Hans Bellmer, Anthony Gormley, Alexander McQueen, Erwin Olaf, as well as looking at the casts of the victims of Pompeii. The entire collection made from undyed vegetable tanned leather which is reminiscent of caucasian flesh.”
Burke’s pieces are reminiscent of fellow Londoner Paddy Hartley’s Project Facade in their sensual combination of sculpture and fashion to represent body trauma and the trappings of recovery.

I never said this threeaday thing was going to be riveting.
It could've been worse. There's a day coming when I'll be thoroughly (if temporarily) sick of this whole idea, and you'll get three very detailed depictions of how dark it is inside my camera case.
On the bright side, now you won't be confused when that happens.
Also, tomorrow's an Off Day. Nifty how that's got a title now, huh? No computer, very limited phone. I plan to spend tomorrow encamped in a bookstore for as long as possible. Ideally for long enough that the staff starts asking me where things are, or at least long enough to have an entire section informally named after me.

| The light at the end of the tunnel just might not be a train... |
[15 Nov 2009|11:54pm] |
I'm racheting it back for Dickens this year, and I feel like maybe I'm close to being to a good place.
This weekend was a zoo, workshops on Saturday and then a party, missing brunch for workshops, and then wig shopping. Today I went to the gym, rehearsed for Friday's performance, then to workshops, got my papers finalized, turned in, monies paid...
...and then home to work on the costume for Friday, which I believe is now ready for my dress rehearsal tomorrow night.
Tuesday I am working on hair for Friday, Wednesday I have class, Thursday I rehearse one last time, and Friday is the big night!
Do come out and see, I expect this Hubba to be full to the brim of awesome!
...and then Saturday and Sunday I have dress rehearsals, and Tuesday night is tech, and then it's Thanksgiving-Dickens 4day weekend....
...and then, I might have a little time. Not much, but a little bit. I am looking forward to drawing that nice long breath, and it's getting closer and closer. Here's to making it there soon.

I know you all have really strong feelings about this (yes, I do read what you write), and I do not promise to agree with you. However, I'm throwing this out there...
If you were to donate money to an organization working toward marriage equality, what organization would it be? Why?
Thanks!

There's nothing "unnatural" about homosexuality, you just don't understand it, it's not a part of who you are, so you choose to slander and/or belittle. It's very NATURAL to homosexuals to be the way they are, just as it's NATURAL for you to be the way you are [or anyone else for that matter]. Personally, I think putting a penis [or any body part for that matter] into a butthole [male OR female] to be disgusting, but there are LITERALLY BILLIONS of people who disagree with me, and as long as they don't get pushy in their beliefs, then they can think/speak whatever they want without a reaction from me. What is normal for you is abnormal to others. It's the quintessential pivotal point for all of humanity. "Normal" is just perception.
And consider this; if God did indeed make Adam and Eve, then it stands to reason that he made Steve too. If we are all made in God's image, then logically, God is at the very least bisexual.
As the famous saying confirms : "Reality is the only word in the English language that should always be used in quotes."
